*NEW* Equipment: DNM 5700S Machines Larger CNC Parts for Aerospace Applications and More
Superior CNC machined parts require a state-of-the-art facility. At Summit CNC, we maintain an 800-amp, 2,400-square-foot precision machine shop with towering ceilings, accessible indoor and outdoor workspaces, and a well-lit shop floor.
The latest addition to our exceptional equipment lineup is a DNM 5700S vertical CNC machining center by DN Solutions.
With this powerful machine in-house, we have significantly increased the part sizes we can machine for numerous applications in aerospace, defense, medical, oil and gas, renewable energy and other industries.
The Advantages of Vertical CNC Machining
Multi-functional vertical machining centers support multiple subtractive manufacturing operations, including milling, threading, boring, and beyond. With 40 tools available in the 5700S tool changer, Summit CNC is equipped to make exceptionally accurate cuts in a wide range of high-performance materials—from soft and hard metals to plastics.
Here are some of the key benefits of vertical CNC machining:
Enhanced visibility enables mill operators to see and address any problems that may arise during the precision machining process.
Intuitive CNC controls simplify programming, meaning more time gets devoted to machining and less time is absorbed telling the machine what to do.
The vertical design accelerates workpiece fixturing—another contributor to the machine’s speedier performance.
Precision CNC Machining with the DNM 5700S
Supported by a newly designed machine base, the 14,330-pound DNM 5700S boasts a direct-drive 15,000 RPM spindle and 51.2” x 22.4” table dimensions with a maximum capacity of 2,205 pounds.
A true workhorse for large plate work, the DNM 5700S is significantly bigger than its “little brother,” the 4500S, accommodating parts up to 38” long and 20” wide.
Our precision machine shop’s DNM series mills are faster and more accurate than many other industrial CNC machining centers. Here’s why:
High RPM Spindle
The 15,000 RPM spindle doesn’t just sound impressive; it does impressive work! It can rapidly cut large aluminum parts at a feed rate of 709 IPM. With 87 feet/pound of torque and a CAT40 spindle taper, the 5700S spindle can be run at our selection of 15 or 25 horsepower.
Chilled Roller Ball Spindle
Unlike the non-S-type machining centers from DN Solutions, the 5700S includes a chilled roller ball spindle that won’t overheat during use. The cooled spindle prevents runout and improves machining accuracy—no easy feat when rapidly machining large parts.
Faster Rapid Traverses
Traverse time is the time required to move the tool between cuts. The faster the rapid traverse, the more accelerated the non-cutting cycle time. The win? We save time, and you save money!
The 5700S offers:
X-axis rapid traverse: 1,653 IPM
Y-axis rapid traverse: 1,653 IPM
Z-axis rapid traverse: 1,417 IPM
