Summit CNC’s Newly Integrated ERP & QMS System Enables Us to Better Serve Our Customers

When we founded Summit CNC, we started managing and tracking the internal processes of our machine shop by using Excel spreadsheets and Google Sheets. As we gained more customers and were processing more work orders, we knew we needed an ERP system to help us manage our processes more efficiently and effectively. Furthermore, our workload has primarily consisted of medical, aerospace, and defense parts that have tight tolerances and/or are made from materials that are more challenging to machine, such as titanium and PEEK. Thus, we needed to integrate an ERP system with a robust, built-in QMS module.

After extensive research and interviewing several ERP system providers, we were confident that ProShop ERP was the right choice for our shop.

From the summer to the end of 2023, we underwent a rigorous implementation process to onboard the ProShop ERP & QMS system at our Denver machine shop. This process required a significant amount of time and dedication, but it was an important step towards our broader goals of providing the best service to our customers and enabling the well-organized growth of our precision machine shop and personnel for many years to come.

Since implementing the ProShop ERP & QMS system, our internal processes have become significantly more organized and efficient. Less time and energy are lost to redundant and unnecessary manual processes. Jobs flow from start to finish with clear paperless tracking and measurement systems in place at every step along the way. Below are a few of the most significant upgrades our customers are experiencing due to the integration of our ERP & QMS system:

First Article Inspection Data in ProShop ERP System at Summit CNC Machine Shop

Example of first article inspection (FAI) data input at the work order level.

  • Improved Quality Assurance - The integrated QMS module allows us to directly prescribe inspection criteria and directions to each work order. By prescribing specific tolerances, inspection directions, and intervals, we can better ensure that all of the parts in a work order’s run are completed to specifications.

  • Improved On-Time Delivery - Built-in project management capabilities provide us the ability to schedule specific work order-related tasks down to the minute. Time tracking of tasks allows us to continually measure each work order’s progress in real time and adjust as needed. This way, we can more easily get ahead of timing issues before they affect your delivery schedule.

  • Unlimited Data Retention - As a machine shop that works with medical, aerospace, and defense customers, we wanted the ability to retain manufacturing and inspection data for an indefinite amount of time. Our ProShop ERP is hosted on a secure, ITAR-compliant server where we can store and easily extract organized inspection information, manufacturing process details, and any additional information and data our customers request through the lifecycle of their parts and products.

Our team at Summit CNC experiences the benefits of our newly integrated ERP & QMS system every day, however, it is our customers who ultimately benefit most. From estimate and quote generation, order processing and inspection, to final delivery/shipment of precision machined parts, each step of our internal processes is now streamlined and more efficient. Our investment in ProShop ERP is just another reason why we are the CNC machining partner you can count on to continuously improve and deliver high quality machined parts each and every time.
